Segun Adesina from Lagos State emerged winner at the South West regional screening of Naija Top Baker

South West bakers trooped out to witness outstanding skills from distinguished invited Bakers and contestants at the South Western regional screening of Naija Top Baker. Over 200 bakers from several South West states and Abuja were present at the event. Highlights include Bread & Dessert Class by Mr Creative Gbolahan Olakunle, Skipping Minion Cake Design by Cake Knight Bayo Olowu, Standing Sponge Bob Design by Cake Boss Sheyi Oke, Royal Crown design by Olufemi Akanni, live baking class tagged Bakewell Class by Chef Kola, Fabric Flower by Sugar Queen, butter icing purse design by Ollybluebell.
Renowned bakers at the event, held at Social Development Centre Samonda Ibadan, were; Chika Ani of Esperanza Cakes Lagos, Ruth Suthon of Novelty Cakes Lagos, Bayo Olowu of Maplecraft Sugar Art Centre Port Harcourt and Lagos, Gbolahan Olakunle of Creative Cakes by Gbolahan Lagos, Tunica Abuede of Classic I Do Cakes Lagos, Kolawole Olagunju of Bakewell Studios Lagos, Da Cake Master, Sheyi Cake Boss, Olufemi Akanni, Abiodun Adeniyi of New Trafford Cakes Ibadan, Sugar Queen Elizabeth Mbukanma Oyo State, Olaitan John Ojo Ollybluebell Oyo State, Adebimpe Falako of Teesk Ventures Ogun State and Honey Bee Oyo State.
Surprise guest at the event was Kema Abuede who gave a free class and thrilled the participants. There was a live interactive session to unveil Team 7 anchored by Sugar Queen. Chika Ani of Esperanza Cakes led the showcase session followed by Sugar Queen and Ollybluebell. Tunica Abuede led other judges on the 2-day intensive screening. Other judges are Chika Ani, Elizabeth Mbukanma Snr and Ruth Suthon. New Trafford Cakes showcased 2 outstanding designs comprising Treasure Chest Cake and Upside Down Minion Cake.
At the end of the cake decoration contest Olusegun Adesina from Lagos State emerged winner while Abimbola Otubusin from Oyo State was announced as the 1st runner up and Bolaji Akinpelu from Lagos State was named 2nd runner up. Other contestants were; Taiwo Falako from Ogun, Oladotun Ojerinde from Lagos State, Comfort Alagbe from Oyo State, Boluwatife Omolere also from Oyo State and Bolanle Ogunseinde from Lagos. They will join top contestants from other regions in a nationwide search for the best upcoming bakers in Nigeria on December 1-2 in Lagos. The Naija Top Baker event features cake decorating competition, special showcase, and skill impartation session by top cake makers while manufacturers of baking equipment and products exhibit and interface with prospective clients.
All the contestants rejoiced home with packs of Icing Sugar and other products from Amel Susan, Enis Cakes, Royal Dukes, Maplecraft, Mfaars Nigeria Ltd, New Trafford Cakes and Bakers Choice. Organizer of the event, Michael Salako, announced that the contestants have been invited to join others at the grand finale for a chance to be crowned Naija Top Baker 2017 come December, 2016
Exhibitors of repute also connected with clients at the event. They include; Amel Susan, Enis Cakes, Royal Dukes Company Ltd, Mayplecraft, Honeysuckle Cakes. Sweet Celebrations Ibadan gave guests free cocktail drinks on day 1.
