WINNERS EMERGE FOR NORTHERN REGION SCREENING OF NAIJA TOP BAKER AS IBADAN PREPS TO HOST SOUTH WEST MAY 12-13
Abuja bakers trooped out to witness outstanding skills from distinguished invited Bakers and contestants at the northern regional screening of Naija Top Baker. Members of the International Cake Exploration Societe ICES, led by the Abuja Liaison Officer Solape Bolajoko, were present in numbers to support an emerging brand developed by one of their own. Over 250 bakers from several northern states and Lagos were present at the event. Highlights include Canvass Cake design by Gbolahan Olakunle, Skipping Minion and Sitting Sponge Bob by Bayo Olowu, Freehand people modeling by Ibironke Adelokun, String work by Beignet Baker, Flower decors by Abiola Okeji, live class for Cake in Toast Bread Machine and French Fries by Favour Etuke.
Renowned bakers at the event, held at Gracepoint Resort Hotel Abuja, were; Bayo Olowu of Maplecraft Sugar Art Centre Port Harcourt and Lagos, Gbolahan Olakunle of Creative Cakes by Gbolahan Lagos, Tunica Abuede of Classic I Do Cakes Heaven Lagos, Damilola Kehinde of Aunty Lo’s Cakes Abuja, Ibironke Adelokun of Flourishing Best Cakes Abuja, Beignet Baker of Pastry Galleria Abuja, Abiola Okeji of A&B Cakes Abuja, Olukemi Taiwo Abe of Classic Cakes Abuja, Esther Oni of Yummy Feel Cakes Abuja and Favour Etuke of Your Kids Can Cook Too Abuja
At the end of the cake decoration contest Naomi Ayuba from Kaduna State emerged winner while Ruqayyatu Baba Manu from Gombe State was announced as the 1st runner up and Cynthia Ngozi Okolie from Abuja was named 2nd runner up. Other contestants were; Farida Bashir from Sokoto, Onwughalu Lilian, Fatima Muhammed, Chioma Ofonagoro and Ada Uzoka all from Abuja. They will join top contestants from other regions in a nationwide search for the best upcoming bakers in Nigeria. The Naija Top Baker event features cake decorating competition, special showcase, and skill impartation session by top cake makers while manufacturers of baking equipment and products exhibit and interface with prospective clients.
All the contestants rejoiced home with packs of Icing Sugar and other products from Amel Susan, Stitch & Bake, Classic Cakes, Mekang, Royal Dukes and Maplecraft. Smile Network provided free WIFI services for the event and gave the winner a free modem. The winner also got a free scholarship from Chef’s Academy Abuja while the 1st and 2nd runners up got 50% tuition at the foremost institution for empowering youths. Organizer of the event, Michael Salako, announced that the contestants have been invited to join others at the grand finale for a chance to be crowned Naija Top Baker 2017 come December, 2016
